Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles” could overtake the Chainsmokers and Halsey’s ubiquitous “Closer” for the top spot on next week’s Billboard Hot 100 chart, the magazine reports. If it makes it to number one, “Black Beatles” will owe the bulk of its success to digital streams, which received a big boost in recent days as the song became a popular soundtrack for viral “Mannequin Challenge” videos. (Even OG Beatle Paul McCartney got in on the action this week, synching the song to a video of his frozen pose.)

“Closer” is currently riding an impressive 12-week run in the number-one spot, closing in on the 16-week record set by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” in 1996. “Black Beatles” is at number nine. The modern Hot 100 chart is calculated based on a mixture of sales, radio airplay, and streaming data, and as Billboard notes, the Chainsmokers are still trouncing Rae Sremmurd when it comes to radio.

I don’t even hate “Closer,” but it’s time to give it a rest. “Black Beatles” feels a lot more appropriate in the present moment than the Chainsmokers’ frat-dude posturing. The new Hot 100 chart, covering data from November 4 through 10, will be out this Monday, November 14. Give the Black Beatles a little streaming boost below.
